April 2000 MTCV Itinerary

Saturday 8th Café Cruise leader required

1 am Café Racer, 16 Marine Parade St Kilda

Last time we had 15 or so bikes with lots of pillions. Great place to be seen. Purely a social get together. Could end up in Williamstown for lunch at La Porchetta’s. Come and have a special coffee or two.

Sunday 9th Lavers Hill via GOR Geoff Jones leading 9.30 am West Gate Shell Servo

Standard Great Ocean Road Ride. Arguably some of the best coastal scenery in the world (if you get time to look). Traffic should be okay given its not school holidays. Great roads: the further you go, the better they get! Ride is not suitable for inexperienced riders due to its length. Expect around 500 km for the day.

Sunday 16th Licola Theo Kalkandis leading

9.00 am KBCP, 9.45 am Hallam

Another arduous ride not suitable for inexperienced riders. This is a really great ride if you make the commitment. Theo knows all the back roads through beautiful rolling hills. The final 54 km from Heyfield to Licola is uninterrupted bliss, a truly sensational road (surface, scenery, width, variety) which will leave you with a wide smile on your face, and will take a couple of days to recover from. If you want to avoid the city traffic, go east, and into the hills. Expect around 500 km of hard riding, but well worth it.

Thursday 20th Social Sip, 7 pm Blackburn Hotel, 111 Whitehorse Road Blackburn

A dozen or so make the historical trip last month. No bad reports yet, other than none of us wanted to leave come closing time of 10.30 pm. Surely a good sign. Good food and atmosphere. See you there.

Sunday 23rd Phillip Island World Superbikes

Meet AMCN Expo, 1 pm each day

No official ride. A lot of members will be at The Island, camping, caravanning or motelling. Yet others are making the trek to Bathurst, unfortunately on the same weekend. Make your own way to the track and look for members and friends at the AMCN Expo around 1 pm each day.

Monday 24th Kinglake Hills (short ride) Geoff Jones leading

10.30 am Yarra Glen

This is Easter Monday and a public holiday. It is a short ride for those who need a fix after watching bike racing all weekend. The Reefton looks tempting now that it is sealed. Expect around 250 km for the day.

Sunday 30th Mt Macedon (short ride) Ben Warden leading

10.30 am Whittlesea

Thursday 4th May Annual General Meeting, 8.15 pm Club Hall
