Road Conditions Reporting Line: 9854-2899 where motorcyclists can report road conditions and give suggestions for improvement on any road in Victoria.

Seen at the June Social Sip at the Blackburn Hotel: Ian Payne, Ron and Julie Johnston, Rob Langer and Kirsten Anderson, Craig Morley, Ray Walker, Priya Munasinghe, Rob Matricciani and Mandy Flower, Bruce Saville, Danny Kosinski, and Dianne Welsford. 13 people

Rumour has it that Bruce Saville is trading in this trusty FJ1100 on a VFR750. That was last month’s line, and the rumour has proved to be correct. To say Bruce Saville was happy with his VFR800 would be an under statement as he is now describing it as a sex toy! Seems every time he looks at it he gets ………..Excited!

At our Sandown Ride Day, one entrant, not content with 1 bike had 2 pieces of exotica at his disposal: a Ducati 748SP (bored out to 840cc) and the latest F4 M.V Agusta. The F4 was giving an R1 a hard time down the straight. Grip may have been a factor but it was still impressive.

Commiserations to Mike Bosworth who dropped his mint blue ZX9 in the last session at Sandown. He lost the front end a couple of corners before the start of the front straight. The bike low sided happily enough until it hit the dirt, dug in and flipped. Very messy, very nasty. Mike walked away unhurt and a little wiser. Insurance may cover it.

Enzo Cunico, not happy with the performance of his YZF1000, got another opinion on its mechanical condition and was told maybe the bike had done 116,000 km and not the 16,000 km as indicated. Hmm.

The counter meal ride on July 9th is to the Pig & Whistle, a quaint little pub at East Trentham. We have been here before and due to its popularity a booking needs to be made. Therefore we have booked a table for 10 people at 1pm. The pub has a special 3-course meal for $20, or the usual bill of fare. If you are contemplating joining us, please contact Ian Payne to ensure the exact number of seats can be pre-booked!

Here is the gist of some email I received lately:

Hi there Ben,

I am a friend of Martin Hastie (Blue Honda Blackbird - BIRD1) Just to let you know that he is back in Maroondah Hospital. After his unfortunate altercation with a white marker post in early May, he had surgery to repair 3 broken bones in his foot and a severely lacerated big toe (His toenail became embedded deeply in his toe!) Unfortunately the top of the toe has died and he needs to have further surgery. He is really unhappy that he has been unable to ride when the weather has been so good!

Next day this arrived: Further to last e-mail:-

Number 2 operation on Wednesday found severe infection down into the bone.(The Doctor was told 4 to 5 weeks ago!!!!) Surgeons removed some of the broken pieces of bone, as they weren't mending. Because of the degree of infection, they had to scrape even more bone away. Also some dead skin and tissue.

Number 3 operation on Friday night, re opened and scraped out more infected tissue and bone. Double the normal volume of fluid required to flush out the gunk!!

Number 4 operation tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!..Goodness knows what they will do this time!!!

Martin is now the proud owner of one size 12 left foot and one size 11.5 right foot!! (Hopefully not a size 11 tomorrow!!)
