February 2000 General Meeting Minutes

Open Meeting: 8.35 pm

Apologies: Nil

Secretary Report: Contents of PO Box sorted & relevant items read by Ben: Vic Roads Riders on the Storm Rally, MRA News, Triumph News and Bank Statement.

Treasurer’s Report: As at end of January there was $2640 in the bank.

Captains’ Report Past and Forthcoming rides previewed by Theo Kalkandis and Ian Payne. Also a reminder of Andi’s "Girls Ride" on 14th November.

General Business:

    • Ian explained to the group the Committee’s reasons for instituting ‘short rides’ and how the Committee feels this format should suit more Club members who like a late start and early finish.

    • The new itinerary for February to May is now available.

    • For the long weekend in March (Labour Day) we will be heading along the coast to Port Campbell. For reservations please contact Ian Payne.

    • There is a NEW Motorcycle Magazine (Vic & Tasmanian Biker) in which the MTCV got quite a good bit of publicity. Please take a copy.

    • A Police Blitz targeting motorcycles has been talked about for the coming month. Take care when out on the roads and observe road laws as much as possible.

Ride Days: Brighton Yamaha are having one at Phillp Island on the 5th of March. Brighton Kawasaki having one at Phillip Island on the 10th.

 

Guest Speaker: Local identity ‘Mick Hone’ gave an informative talk on his motorcycling experience in both selling and racing motorcycles. Refer to separate article.
