August 2000 General Meeting Minutes

Open Meeting: 8:39pm
Present: 17 members and friends in attendance.
Visitors Ian welcomed visitor, Andrew Wickes (FJ1200)

Secretary Report: Contents of PO Box sorted & relevant items read by Ben : -
VicRoads, Harrietville Hotel, Shannon’s & Hilite Plating.
Treasurer’s Report: $1816 in bank.
Captains’ Report Past and Forthcoming rides previewed by Ray Walker & Ian Payne.
General Business: Ian reminded members that subscriptions are now due.
Our next meeting is our annual Auction; members can bring along items for sale, preferably related to motorcycling. The Club retains 10% of the selling price for fundraising. The auction is a fun night and not taken too seriously.
The September Social Sip will be held on the Thursday 21st, two weeks after the meeting ie as per normal, despite what the itinerary says. The Club will change the venue to the Elgin Hotel in Hawthorn in October.
Ian asked members to come forward with ideas and destinations for the October/January itinerary. This itinerary will include the Cup Weekend in November, Club Camp at Christmas, and Aust. Day Long Weekend in January.
Jack Youdan asked if members had seen the latest offering from Western QBE insurance. It’s called "Mates Rates" and offers a 10% discount on motorcycle insurance for any friends of a current QBE client. It also offers the insured a 10 % discount of their renewal for every new customer they sign up!
Bruce Saville informed members that the Oakleigh Bowling Club is an ideal meeting venue. Several other bike clubs use the venue and at only $25 per night is quite cheap. Committee will inspect and advise members.
