In order to catch the tractor ride round Point Nepean a direct route was taken with a few twisties around Red Hill and Arthurs Seat. Good news was that the chopper had been looked at and was running better this week. Mike was getting used to his brand new ZX9 after having been disappointed in the colour of the original (or something like that). Andrew, who is an ex-member, had to jump-start the BM when leaving home and looked for down hill slopes when stopped.
At 12.30 pm we started the trip to the Fort, this costing $7.35 each (group concession). Rhys spent time working out the Parks budget i.e. so many tractor trips with so many passengers and thought they were on a good wicket, though I am a bit suspicious of his mental arithmetic. You could be dropped off at various points on the journey and picked up later. As the next trip was two hours later it was thought that would be too late in the day. So we went the back way to Sorrento for fuel, then Flinders for a break, most deciding to head for home.
The rest of us rode down the Arthur's Seat hill where other bike groups were evident. Mr Plod was seen talking to a postie bike and young owner who must have been going too fast. Before the ride finished near Bittern we re-rode the twisty bits of the Dromana - Bittern road where care had to be taken as the surface had a covering of green moss.
Many thanks to Rhys for tail riding and to Ian Payne who arrived on four wheels at Hallam with the first -aid kit.

Xmas Camp, Mt Buffalo Caravan Park, Porepunkah,
Tue. 26th Dec. to Mon 1st Jan
Christmas is all but on us and it is time to make bookings at our favourite Xmas Camp destination, Mt Buffalo Caravan Park. Situated on the fork of two rivers it offers a range of activities from swimming, fishing and bush walking. Great road and dirt riding country abounds. Mt Buffalo is a sensational 25 km climb to the scenic Chalet and lookout. Nearby are good half-day rides to Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Dartmouth Dam. Who can forget Tawonga Gap. On the flip side there are lots of fire trails and mountain ranges offering spectacular views of the surrounding alps, most of which can only be reached by 4WD or dirt bike. So, bring your road and dirt bike, and the 4WD. Other attractions in the area include an Alpacca Farm, wineries, cheese factory, berry farms, Smoko Trout farm, hang gliding, para-sailing, and horse riding. Supermarket shopping is available in Bright. There are a variety of places to eat from up-market restaurants to pizza shops and hotels.
The Club has booked a few unpowered sites. Last year a few couples rented log cabins for the week, another good option. I have booked a powered site for the Taj and am contemplating bringing both bikes. Ring Kelly on 03-5756-2235 to secure a cabin or powered site. Otherwise tell Ian Payne of your intention to camp with the group. Do it now. And book your annual leave.
Great location. Good people to ride and socialise with. Bring the family. Be there.
