$600,000 Motorcycle Accessories Auction
(My next door neighbour passed on a cutting out of the local paper with information about an upcoming auction. There was no time to advertise the information in the magazine, so I sent the details to the members with email addresses. Martin Hastie took up the opportunity and here is his report. Note: a number of email addresses bounced – either from being non-existent or from lack of resources – ie mail box has not been cleared. The auction was of smoke
damaged goods (as a result of a recent fire) salvaged from Peter Stevens. A
catalogue of 68 pages of items with at least 20 items per page equals lots of
stuff for sale. All goods were only smoke damaged, at worst a bit of soot which
washed off with little effort.
It’s
The auctioneer was good
at upping the price as he varied the dollar amount from a $10 or $20, or
sometimes a $50 increase each time people made a bid. So you had to control
yourself from getting too excited and over bidding on the item. Some of the
prices I recorded:
I purchased a full
outfit for Carmen: AGV leather pants and jacket, and a race-pro back brace. I
also purchased a large rack pack and boots for myself at a very good
price. Alas, the money I saved will now
have to go towards replacing my $400 spectacles that I lost somewhere in the
crowd on the day.
