MSR Itinerary            December  2007

Sat.      8th        Free Club Xmas Party, Fairfield Park (Melways  30 J 12)

                        12-4 pm, BYO drinks

Sunday 9th      Mt Baw Baw                                                                                        Ben Warden leading

10 am Yarra Glen

Another challenging ride. The proposed route is up and down Chum and Myers Creeks roads and then across to Noojee for morning tea. The difficulty is that Noojee has no fuel and the return trip is 100 km on top of the 80 or so already done. A splash at Healesville en-route may be required to allow us to get to Moe on the one tank.  Dropping down across the Princes Highway we’ll work our way east back through Narracan, Thorpdale, Mirboo North, Korumburra (regroup) and then back to Drouin and Longwarry via Buln Buln to break up. Expect around 330 km for the day. Note:  Ride may not suit inexperienced riders; and is not recommended for first time Club riders due to the length and technical difficulty of the ride.

Sat. 15th          Phillip Island Ride Day (booked out)                                                                                                          About 10 or so members are participating. Come down for a look and watch the fun.

Sunday 16th    Lavers Hill via the Great Ocean Road                                                 Cliff Peters leading

9.30 am West Gate Shell Servo

This ride may not suit inexperienced riders; not recommended for first time Club riders. This isn’t a joke. We are serious. Put your ego away. Don’t bring a mate. Last time it was air ambulance and hospital. Now that the safety concerns are addressed, this ride offers roads of world renown. The Club has figured out the best routes to maximise your enjoyment and minimise the frustration. Join Cliff, a GOR expert who travels this route many times a year commuting form Portland to Melbourne. Lunch at Lavers Hill around 1 pm. Home via Forest, Deans Marsh and Moriac to break up at Lara near the freeway. Expect around 500 km for the day. Good tyres essential as typically tyre wear is extreme due to the sustained high speed.

Sunday 23rd    Woolamai (Gippsland area)                                                             Ben Warden leading

10 am Berwick

Last ride of the year. So many good roads to choose from. The puzzle is how to connect them together, and run in the best direction. Loops within loops, every style of road from fast sweepers to tight twisties. 100 km between stops with all facilities. Should suit all types of riders. Expect around 350 km for the day depending on participants, the weather and bike fitness.

Wed 26th December 2007 to Tuesday 1st January, 2008, Xmas Camp Porepunkah, Mt Buffalo Caravan Park. Bookings essential. Ring Ian Payne to reserve camp site. Generally an organised ride each day, alternating short and long. See elsewhere for booking details and activities available.
