Weather: hot and dry 35 degrees.

Casual days seem to bring out most people and this was no exception. Friday night Bron informed me that she would prefer to go on the Honda as the Duke is too uncomfortable as she found out last week. I offered to ride separately but as this was deemed a pillion/casual spin through the countryside, she thought it more appropriate to be on the one bike.

This planned route was to be very similar to last year’s with a couple of small changes. There is a new bakery/café in Pheasant Creek that I wanted to check out so I made this our first stop.

At 10am we gathered around for the spiel and then we were on our way. Along the Old Healesville Road, then up Chum Creek Road and over the Melba Highway. We  ran into Renzo who had left late and thought he would meet us along the way. He did. Perfect timing!

The ride went very smoothly towards the new bakery in Pheasant Creek for our first stop. We all had a cuppa and some had food even though we were to have lunch at the pub in Yea. After about 30 minutes we made our way across to Kinglake West, then on to Flowerdale and Strath Creek. Both the big KTMs were in my mirrors. Boy they look big from behind!

We turned right at Strath Creek to Trawool and then made our way up the highway to Yea for lunch. As we pulled in I noticed that Kirsten was now on the back off Trev’s bike as the KTM was none too comfy. Paul was already here as he spent the morning looking for someone to change his rear tire with no luck as the shop was closed. (Ben changed his tyre.  …Ed.)

The food at this pub is very nice with everybody other than Trev pigging out. He decided to have fruit bread from the bakery. The weather was starting to warm up, encouraging a few people to headed off home after lunch.

After a coffee I offered to lead the remaining riders back to Warrandyte to our break up and a cuppa for those who wanted it. So the group was now half as large as we headed back via Junction Hill to St Andrews and the back roads to Warrandyte. It was 3.30 pm and the weather was still very warm. After a leisurely break we parted ways and headed home.

Thanks to everyone for coming. Saturday rides seem to be popular and I will continue to promote them.

Thanks to Ian and Sherry for rear riding and everyone else for participating.
