Eight of us set off for this Saturday ride to Archies Creek and with such a compact little group, we were mostly riding together with not much delay; gives a nice feeling of unity.
On our Sunday rides, the country towns we usually stop for morning tea are very quiet - most of the shops are closed so you don’t get to feel/see the “flavour” of the town. What a surprise when we arrived at Warragul this Saturday morning; the little town was so alive. Good coffee was had here as Dave Ward is a bit of a coffee “cognoscenti” (knows his coffee) and knew exactly where to take us… good man!
Lunch at Archies Creek pub was very hearty and satisfying with the patrons very down to earth and friendly. Venue well chosen by Dave Ward… he’s a bit of a “foodie” as well.
Time for riding, with some serious twisties and the usual Korumburra run, arriving finally at Drouin. Many happy faces at the end of the ride. As usual, never enough for “I want some more” Misho. Ok, ok, we’ll go back the curly way. Everyone had commitments for the rest of the afternoon, so it was just Misho and I.
I was very happy to oblige as I was on the back of the Blade and having lots of fun, apart from being constantly bumped up and down on the pillion seat as a result of hard compound race tyres (Keh? Rumour has it Misho hadn’t softened up the damping after the ride day …Ed.) and not much of a soft landing on the minimally cushioned seat.
We went via Powelltown,
Chum Creek, Toolangi, stopping at Warburton for a drink, then
Thanks so much to Dave for leading and Bronwyn for rear-riding and for your great company on the ride, together with Ian, Paul, Cliff and Rob.
