October 2001 MTCV Itinerary

Sunday 7th       Eildon via Torbreck River                                                         Greg Hales leading                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

Near Eildon, the Torbreck River Road is 37 km long before it turns to dirt. We regroup at the bridge to catch our breath. Twisty road from start to finish, technically challenging with tightening corners and plenty of gentle ups and downs. A fantastic motorcycle road, particularly as it has no intersections and very few cars – just the odd deer hunter or lost tourist. Throw in the Black Spur and maybe home via Yea and the Flowerdale road and you have a full, fun day. Join Greg and friends for a great ride. Expect around 350 km for the day. You’ll need decent tyres.

Sunday 14th     Phillip Island 500cc GP                                                              make your own way

Meet AMCN expo 1 pm each day

Sunday 14th    Broadford (short ride)                                                                Ray Walker  leading

                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

1 pm BBQ lunch and watch 500cc GP on TV at Ray’s, 56 Melba Ave Sunbury

Just turn up for a short ride around our favourite eastern ranges before heading back to Ray and Katrina’s for a BBQ lunch while watching the action at Phillip Island. Often this proves a great option given Philip Island’s propensity for rain in October. The Club will shout you lunch.

Sunday 21st     Highlands                                                                                    Rob Langer  leading

                        10.15 am Whittlesea

Join Rob, either on his BM or trusty VFR, for an interesting and fun ride through the seldom traveled country between Seymour and Yea, north of the highway. There is a 4 km stretch of easy dirt – relatively smooth, straight, and up hill. Dust is the only problem. Options abound around Yea so expect the unexpected, but wherever he leads, the roads are great. Expect around 350 km.

Sunday 28th     Blackwood                                                                                 Wayne Grant leading

                        10.15 am Whittlesea

This ride would suit a pillion. Wayne conducts his rides at a less frenetic pace than some, and chooses the more open country roads in preference to tight and twisty ones. I expect we’ll find ourselves in Kyneton for morning tea via Kilmore and Wandong. Scenic and leisurely. A short time later we will have worked our way south to Blackwood, though lunch could be at Daylesford, a thriving country town . Expect to break up Diggers Rest after around 250 km.
