Liz and I decided in the morning that as this was more of a social ride we would take only one bike between us. This meant that one of us would have to go as the victim/pillion. Bad luck for Liz - I won. We had a nice leisurely cruise down the Princes Highway on our way to St Kilda. But I must have had the wrong turn off in mind as we ended up going partially around Albert Park. Oh well, it was nice and scenic anyway.

We parked up on the footpath outside the Cavalli Café along with all the Harleys, Indians and wanna-be Harleys and were greeted by Di and Ian. Coffees and hot chocolates were ordered, and then, as more bikes and riders turned up, we played the “is that one of ours?” game. Dave Nimmo had us fooled by arriving in a new leather jacket that none of us had seen before.

By 12 o’clock Wayne, Joanne, Ben, Julie and Enzo had all arrived. Entertainment was provided firstly by all the exotic cars inside the Café, and secondly by the rather noisy departure of the other group of bikes. Enzo seemed to know one of the guys in the group riding an Indian. A very interesting looking machine with a tank gear shift, and not a lot of suspension. I don’t think we will ever see him on a MSTCV Club ride.

Di made a phone call and then informed us that she had booked a table at La Porchetta in Williamstown for 12.30, so we had better go. I’m not sure of the route that we took but we ended up coming out at the bottom of the West Gate Bridge and then over to Williamstown to meet Dave, Bronwyn, Darren and Julianne who were already there. Darryn was sporting some good scabs on his legs from – no not a motorbike accident, but a cycling accident. Apparently Dave Moore has a matching set on the other side from a tandem mono crash they had. A lot of people claim that motorcycling is dangerous, but at least we don’t wear lyrcra on a motorbike.

We sat in the sun outside eating pizza and watching the scenery go by. Quite a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to Di for the organizing and to everyone for the pleasant company.
