November 2003 MSTCV Itinerary
Sunday 9th Strathbogie Ranges BBQ lunch Rob Langer leading
10.15 am Whittlesea
Our Social Secretary, Kirsten Anderson, has kindly offered to organise a BBQ at her parents’ property near Strathbogie, about 50 km from Yea as the crow flies. BBQ style food and drink will be provided. If you have special dietary requirements either give Kirsten a call or make your own arrangements. The route will encompass Flowerdale, Strath Creek and Seymour for morning tea followed by Highlands and maybe Ruffy, Euroa and Strathbogie. Expect around 180 km before lunch.
Sunday 16th Mt Baw Baw via Powelltown Mark Easterbrook leading
10.15 am Yarra Glen
This ride is marked not suitable for inexperienced riders. As Greg Hales says whenever he sees one of those road signs warning motorcyclists of hazardous conditions, “Whoopee! Good roads ahead!”. Mt Baw Baw is dangerous, slippery, has blind corners and the occasional 4WD. But if you want to improve your riding, a hundred kilometres of twisty roads there and back to Noojee is a good start!
Sunday 23rd Café Cruise (short ride)
Dave Ward leading
11 am Cavali Café, 161 Fitzroy St, St Kilda
A very casual get together at Cavali’s for a coffee and cake followed by a short ride over the West Gate Bridge (watch out for the new speed cameras) to Williamstown and La Porchettas for lunch in the sunshine. Some years we have ended up on the Kew Boulevard eating ice cream.
Monday 24th Phillip Island Ride Day
Superbike School, $149, ring Mandy 9792-1322
Quite a few people have booked in for this ride day. It is always more fun riding with people that you know (and trust) and what better venue than Phillip Island, the best track in the world.
Sunday 30th Lavers
Hill via the Great Ocean Road Ray Walker leading
9.30 am West Gate Shell Service Station
Not for the feint hearted, this ride offers a great variety of conditions: everything from tight and twisty corners to long straights. I expect we will take the usual route down to Moriac, the first stop after 110 km or so, then on through Deans Marsh, Lorne, Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill for lunch around 1 pm. After lunch we’ll head back to Apollo Bay and up to Forest and then retrace the morning’s route from Deans Marsh to break up at the West Gate Shell Servo. A long 500 km ride. Note the early start time. Always well attended, the GOR has that magnetic attraction.

Sunday 7th Eildon
via Broadford
Greg Hales leading
10.15 am Yarra Glen
Heaps of twisty roads through our favourite eastern ranges. Expect 400 km for the day. Likely places we’ll pass though include Healesville, Glenburn, Flowerdale and Broadford for morning tea. Then Seymour, Highlands, Yea, Molesworh, Alexandra and Eildon. Sensational ride. Don’t miss it.
