October 2003 MSTCV Itinerary
Sunday 5th Drouin via Noojee Tim
Walker leading
10.15 am Yarra Glen
More twists than you can throw a stick at. Not suitable for a first time or inexperienced riders. Great fun riding on obscure, little-travelled roads. Suit enthusiast! Be there. Expect around 350 hard km for the day.
Sunday 12th Ranges Hotel, Main Road Gembrook Ian Payne leading
10.15 am Hallam
Join Ian for an exciting loop around the hills; first stop Noojee! We will follow Ian on his perfected race-like route through Harkaway coming out at Pakenham, running parallel to the highway to Longwarry before heading north through Labertouche and Neerim South for morning tea at Noojee after 100 km. Then back along the Powelltown Road to Woori Yallock and back south to Cockatoo and Gembrook for lunch and recovery at the Pub, 1 pm. Expect around 180 km of great roads for the day.
Sunday 19th Moto
GP BBQ (short ride) Ray Walker leading
10.15 am Whittlesea or 1 pm 227 Mitchell’s Lane, Sunbury
This ride lends itself to a squirt around our favourite twisty bits.
Expect to pass through Flowerdale, Yea, Highlands and Seymour, after 120 km,
for a bite to eat and a splash of fuel. Then back to Sunbury via Pyalong,
Lancefield, Woodend and a smidge of highway. The Club will look after Ray and
Katrina’s out of pocket BBQ expenses but non-members will be asked to
contribute $5 towards costs. Then we will watch the GP lads ride around in
circles really really fast until they either wear out their tyres, run out of
fuel, or fall off. Should be a great ride followed by great entertainment in
good company.
Sunday 26th Meredith (Brisbane Ranges) Geoff Jones leading 10.15 am West Gate Shell Service Station
The Brisbane Ranges are one of the best-kept motorcycling secrets. There is nothing really there except a fast, twisty road down one side and back up the other. Geoff will lead us out through Werribee on some straight roads (look out for radar) and we will work our way across to Anakie and around to Meredith for fuel and morning tea. Then we’ll head north to Bacchus Marsh via back roads, around the Myrniong Road to Greendale, Blackwood and Trentham for lunch. After lunch we’ll head east picking up Kyneton, Pyalong, Trawool and Flowerdale to finish at Whittlesea. The ride has a number of options and so can be tailored to the weather conditions and attending riders. Sounds good. Expect around 380 km for the day.

Sunday 2nd Heathcote Pink Cliffs Ian Payne leading 10.15 am Yarra Glen
Starting east to head west! Lots of good roads in between. The pink cliffs are a rock formation exposed after gold mining and erosion have weathered the local rocks to produce a maze of pathways of various shades of read and pink due to the iron content of the soil. Expect a leisurely 350 km for the day.
Thurs. 6th Social Sip, 5 Burwood Road Hawthorn
7 pm Whitehorse Inn
