December 2004                              MSTCV Itinerary

Sunday 5th    Yarram                                                                                       Ben Warden leading

                        10 am Berwick

First stop Korumburra bakery via Drouin if you are chasing the ride. Then down south to Inverloch and around the coast to Tarwin Lower and Foster. A slight sight seeing detour amongst the Toora wind powered turbines, then some highway to Yarram before heading inland on seldom ridden roads. This time I’ll avoid the dirt and hopefully the three punctures I received last time. Past Loy Yang power station to Traralgon and home parallel to the Highway via Moe and my recently tested excellent alternative route through Labertouche. This ride is not suitable for inexperienced riders. Expect around 550 km for the day.

Sat. 11th          Free Club Christmas BBQ, BYO drink

                        12-4pm Fairfield Park, Melways Reference 30 J 12

Sunday 12th     Mt Baw Baw                                                                                        Nigel Hellyer leading

                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

After Greg Hales sacrificed himself to the Brack’s taxing machine in the form of Mr Plod, then quickly disposed of his attention seeking bike to some other unsuspecting tax payer, we were left without a leader. Given Nigel’s Buell was swallowed whole by a pothole, jolting the engine out of the frame and putting him off the road for his lead to Hill End, it only seems right that he should lead this ride.  Heaps of twisty roads – Noojee to Mt Baw Baw and back is 100 km of twisties. Throw in possibly the Black and Reefton for starters, and you have a complete and full day of hectic riding. If you bring a pillion, it could be a recipe for relationship breakdown. Will not suit inexperienced riders. Expect around 300 km for the day.

Friday 17th      Phillip Island Ride Day

$169 Superbike School, contact Mandy on 9792-1322 to reserve a place

Sunday 19th    Lavers Hill via Great Ocean Road                                                  Ron Johnston  leading

9.30 am West Gate Shell Servo

Early start indicates a big day. Typically the ride heads down to Lara and then inland parallel to the coast before stopping for a break at Moriac. Then onto Lorne, Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill for lunch at 1 pm. Home via Apollo Bay and Skene’s Creek Road through Forest. Usually home by 5 pm after a lazy 500 km. High stress, high risk sort of ride rewarding participants with spectacular scenery, sensational motorcycle roads and bike fanatics for company. Tyre wear extreme. You only live once; be there!

January 2005

Thurs. 6th        Social Sip, 7 pm Whitehorse Inn, 5 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn

Catch up with the gossip, collect your magazine and save the Club some postage. You never know who you might meet. Throw in some reasonably priced main meals, bargain monster desserts with coffee, a series of theme jokes from the members and you are in for an entertaining evening. We are shuffled out at 10 am, but groups linger outside for much longer. Give it a try. Take the car as there is plenty of parking.

Sunday 9th       Eildon                                                                                            Pete Weyermayr leading             10 am Yarra Glen

Join Pete for the first ride of the year, given Sunday the 2nd is still part of the Xmas Camp public holiday grouping. Lots of possibilities including the Torbreck River Road. Expect around 300 fun km for the day.
