November Who’s News  2004

Liz Oliver ventured out to Kinglake on her Honda CBR954 to meet the group at the end of the Eildon ride. The resulting aches and pains the next day lead her to the realization that riding for her is over, for the short to medium future, the baby already starting to control her life. Hence the bike is for sale. $12,500 will buy you a near perfect 2003 Honda CBR954 with 11 months registration and the balance of the new bike warranty.

Of course, it is a reluctant sale by one careful lady owner. The bike has never been dropped and only ridden on Sundays!  It has just had its 12,000 km service and has all the books.  The 954 has the sweetest motor of all CBRs, the pinnacle of a 10 year development cycle. First to see will buy.

After rebuilding the suspension on his Honda VTR1000, Bill Wee has completed the respray of his fairings and tank. Looks good. Having missed the start of his first Club test ride, he eventually found the Club at Warburton. Missing mudguard bolts were identified and temporarily rectified, but not before some cracking had occurred. Plastic welding will have to be added to his skills repertoire next.

Bill Wee sent me this email on the 7th of October. Would any of the club members be interested in attending the MotoGP in Malaysia next year? A three-day grandstand pass only costs approximately $18 Aus. and the return airfare is about $750 Aus. Accommodation in a three star, air-conditioned hotel in the middle of China Town would cost about $35Aus per night, twin share. Food would be about $2.50 per meal. Sounds like a fantastic deal. For more information contact Bill via email at [email protected]  So far Paul Southwell and Paul Grosser have indicated their intention to join Bill – 1 week’s duration is the plan.

The MTCV Home Page took 260 hits during November and has taken 22, 186 since April 1996.

November Social Sip. Spotted at the Whitehorse Inn earlier in the month were: Ben and Julie Warden, Pete Weyermayr and Liz Oliver, Bill Wee, Ron and Julie Johnston, Ian Payne, Dave Moore, Paul Southwell, Dave Ward, Renzo Cunico and Trevor Harris. 13 people. It looks like we will be at the site for another year at least as managers requested we make bookings for 2005.

The Club Participant of the Year is based on aggregate points accumulated at 1 point per ride, an extra point for leading or being rear rider, and 1 point per Magazine article (maximum 2 per Magazine). Attending 1 or more days of a weekend event scores 3 points for leading, 3 for rear riding duties and 2 points for participating. After 6 months, the top 10 scorers are: Ben Warden (51), Ian Payne (37), Ron Johnston (32), Paul Southwell (31), Robert Langer (23), Peter Weyermayr (21), Martin Hastie (21), Trevor Harris (21), Paul Grosser (16), and Nigel Hellyer (15).

Nigel Hellyer’s Buell is taking longer than expected to repair. A new head had to be sourced from America and only landed early last week. Hence Nigel was unable to lead his scheduled ride down to Hill End via the Reefton Spur. Best not to tell him it was fantastic weather and the roads were grouse. See article for more info.
