The MTCV Home Page took 334 hits during August and has taken 21, 238 since April 1996.  The new itinerary is up; your social calendar is now set until January 2005.

September General Meeting: Ron Johnston, Enzo Cunico, Ian Payne, Ben & Julie Warden, Kate Stewart and Pete Pondeljak, Bruce Saville, Martin Hastie, Trevor Harris, Paul Southwell, Liz Oliver, Peter Weyermayr, Rob Langer, and Peter Philferan. 16 people. The highlight of the evening was a large screen slide show of Ian’s recent trip to South America including a walking trip to Machu Picchu. This time we used the Meeting Hall inbuilt screen (after-all, it is a theatrette). We had the usual minor technology hiccups getting started - thanks to Trevor Harris’ expert Windows skills, all went smoothly in the end. Ian had clearly put a lot of work into his slides with captions on each one. It was a fascinating peek inside a totally foreign culture. Martin brought along a few web video downloads including the multi-bike mono/lost control crash. Nothing like a good bike crash captured on film.

Peter Philferan is to undergo another serious bowel operation.  He entered Box Hill Public Hospital on the 6th of October and may be in for a week or more. Visitors are welcome.  The ward details can be obtained from the Hospital on 9895-3333. We wish Peter a full and speedy recovery.

Welcome to new member Damien Glynn riding a Suzuki GSXR750. He has been on every ride this month, the bug biting hard and deep! Doesn’t say much, just does the business, including good monos every now and again. We wish him long, safe and enjoyable riding experiences with the Club.

The Club Participant of the Year is based on aggregate points accumulated at 1 point per ride, an extra point for leading or being rear rider, and 1 point per Magazine article (maximum 2 per Magazine). Attending 1 or more days of a weekend event scores 3 points for leading, 3 for rear riding duties and 2 points for participating. After 5 months, the top 10 scorers are: Ben Warden (36), Ron Johnston (25), Paul Southwell (24), Ian Payne (24), Robert Langer (19), Peter Weyermayr (17), Nigel Hellyer (15), Martin Hastie (14), Trevor Harris (12) and Paul Grosser (11).  The big movers of the month were Ian Payne, who accumulated 10 points for the month and Rob Langer (7 points). It has been a long time since anyone scored 10 points in a month.

Kate Stewart and Pete Pondeljak have loaded up the bikes and headed north towards Queensland for the next twenty days. They stopped in at Berwick last Sunday to watch us off. We wish them a safe and exciting trip.

Welcome to new member Danny Hawker riding a ZX10R. He is a fencing contractor working the western districts and so we only see him on long weekends and at Christmas weekend rides. He is part of the Peters/Johnston clan and has signed on for Tasmania 2005.  We wish him enjoyable and safe riding.
