A contract had yet to be signed for the Rio Grand Prix. So the FIM/Dorna have cancelled the round. The Portuguese GP has been moved to April 17 and the October 23 round will now be run at a new Turkish circuit subject to a final contract being signed.
World Superbike
Race 1 ended with Corser taking the overall win and Kagayama second to make it a fantastic Suzuki 1-2 on debut. That fact making that feat even more impressive is that it is also the only two Suzuki machines in the field. Yamaha have eleven Superbikes entered, Ducati seven and Honda five but it seems that strength in numbers from the other manufacturers may not be enough to stop the Suzuki pair in 2005.
Race
2 was Kagayama's after a
brilliant performance. He took the chequered flag 2.5 seconds ahead of Laconi with Corser rounding out
the podium. Pitt had drifted back from fourth place to finally end up
ninth place and would be very disappointed with that fact.

Fujiwara got the better of Charpentier and then just cleared out as the Frenchman
seemed to give up the ghost. By the end of the race Fujiwara had built a clear
5.4 second lead over his team-mate while Fabrizio came home in a safe third. The first Yamaha
home was Kevin Curtain in fourth place while his fellow Australian and Yamaha
pilot Broc Parkes came home
sixth place.
