With Paul leading and Ern volunteering rear rider, we are off down the freeway, the quickest way to the good roads. Stuart and I corner mark our usual turnoff on the Nar Nar Goon to Longwarry Road. After a very long wait we started to get concerned, till Ben pulled alongside. Paul Punicki had arrived at Berwick late needing fuel on his new ‘04 GSXR1000.Good. There is nothing wrong.

Starting to look like we are heading into rain. Roadworks take us on a detour of Drouin directly onto Korrumburra Road. Too bad the detour was mud. We ride on through Topiram, Poowong and Loch for our first stop. So far only light rain. After morning tea we head south on the Wonthaggi Road, then right onto the Kernot Road, where we do a fantastic 25 km loop through Almurta, all in the dry. Stuart and I corner mark on the way in and out everyone looking like they had a hoot.

South toward Archies Creek, then left through Konwak and Korrumburra for lunch. It’s goodbye to Ben whose daughter is on a flying visit. Paul Southwell also left for a Chrissy function. It rains really hard over lunch and for the disappointing run back along the Korrumburra Warragul Road, where we hooked up to the freeway for a direct run home.
