November 2006                             MSTCV Itinerary

Sunday 5th       Mt Baw Baw                                                                                           Peter Feistl leading

                        10 am Yarra Glen

Across the Old Healesville Road to Healesville, up Chum Creek road and down Myers Creek road, across to Yarra Junction and on to the glorious Powelltown road to Noojee for first break after 119 km.  If you miss the start, head for Noojee.  After the break it is straight up to Mt Baw Baw. This is 50 km of ever tightening roads – the higher you go, the tighter it gets. And it is very steep at the end. It is a brilliant road with almost no cross roads, eliminating one area of risk. Conversely, heading back down the road is very steep and a number of club riders have come to grief, particularly as confidence and adrenalin levels are artificially high. Be warned, this is a dangerous road and statistically the second highest Club crash site after the Fraser National Park Road.  After lunch a loop south picking up the Neerims before heading back to Powelltown to breakup after a lazy 60 km. Expect 220 km for the day. Good tyres essential.

After lunch it's a Lancefield/Lancefield circuit taking in Pastoria East, Baynton, Pyalong and That Road especially for Lyn.  Snacks and chats time. Our final leg of the day takes us to Wallan and Whittlesea via Romsey. Around 400 km for the day.

Then back to Erica and down to Moe for fuel before picking up the Old Sale Road to Buln Buln, Crossover and Jindivick before breaking up at Longwarry North, a stones throw from the Freeway. Expect 380 km for the day.

You must fuel up as the next hop is 115 km to Eildon via Taggerty and the glorious Torbreck River Road.  After lunch we’ll investigate some of the side roads off the Fraser National Park Road before heading across to Alexandra, Molesworth and Yea to break up in Kinglake West after another 121 km. A splash of fuel may be required at Yea.  Grouse roads all day. Be there.
