September 2006 MSTCV Itinerary
Sunday 10th Mt
Eccles (Gippsland) Ben
Warden leading
10 am Berwick
Mt Eccles, a legendary destination. Last time we got lost in the rain and mud. But the time before I found it in the car and I remember where the turnoff is now. Tons of twisty roads picking up my favourite combinations though such places as Boolara, Mirboo North and Trafalgar. Lunch at the bakeries as per usual. About 5 km of dirt roads including 3 km through Arawata. Head for Korumburra for morning tea if you are running late and miss the start. Expect around 380 km for the day with a break-up at Robin Hood. Not for the inexperienced rider. Don’t bring a friend unless you are sure. Good tyres essential.
Sunday 17th Moto GP
BBQ with pre-ride to Jindavick Ben Warden leading
10 am Yarra Glen
The smart thing to do is
go down and check out the GP scene on Saturday. Then come for the Club ride on
Sunday and afterwards watch the race on TV while enjoying a BBQ with your Club
friends at the Langer Residence,
Sunday 24th Walhalla including Thompson Dam Trevor
Harris leading
10 am Berwick
Longwarry, Labertouche,
Jindivick, Crossover and
The final leg will see us head across through Yallourn North picking up the Willow Grove, Hill End Road back to Noojee. The road gets progressively tighter as we approach Noojee and with the sun low, care should be exercised. After regrouping at Noojee we’ll continue on to Powelltown to finish at Yarra Junction. The ride has every possible combination of good roads, from tight twisty to open sweepers. Expect a tough 420 km. This ride may not suit inexperienced riders, or first time Club riders.
October 2006
Sunday 1st Reefton Spur via Cockatoo Breht Emmerson leading
10
am Yarra Glen
Ian’s recent lead on the Gembrook ride has shone a light on some more interesting roads in the area, inspiring Breht to greater heights. Expect a well planned and executed ride. Hopefully the gravel has dissipated across the Reefton. Even if it hasn’t, the road is always in good condition, rain, hail or shine.
