It was a struggle to get out of bed due to the 50th Party held the night before. Anyhow, as I arranged to meet up with Ian at the end of the street, I had to get my ass into gear. I prepped the bike the night before so I just had to get on and go. The weather for today was to be great but it was still chilly for this time of year.
Ian and I met up at 9am and we set off via all the back roads to Yarra Glen for the 10am kick off. I informed the troops that we would head to Warburton for morning tea, then over the Reefton and into Marysville for lunch. We’d either break up at Healesville or Kangaroo Ground .
On the bikes we head off over to Healesville and up Chum Creek Road to Toolangi, then back down Myers Creek Road into Healesville. The roads were in fairly good condition, other than a few wet patches. John and Eric and crew were at the Healesville servo but were heading the other way. We arrived at Warby to run into Balls and Arpad doing their own thing. Plenty of sh#t spoken as per normal. We then headed off to Reefton.
The road was mostly dry with a couple of wet right hand corners to catch you out. Half way the gravel still hasn't cleared for approx 5 kms. Up top, Eric had arrived with his gang. He has a new R6 in his hands. Tells me its grouse and I should take it for a spin. As the leader, I have commitments but will take up the offer next time.
Marysville is lunch and the sun was great sitting outside the bakery. Plenty to talk about with the 50th last night. I had noticed that there were two guys riding 50cc scooters packed up with camping gear and all. I had a thought that the Club may have to go that way with running costs climbing up and up! After all, the Club started out as a scooter club.
We headed off to the Black Spur, to be informed of a police car around. Sure enough, there he was, at the servo on the entry to the twisty bits. Not a bad run. Just a couple of cars in the way. Joel misjudged my overtaking as I decided not to go as I couldn’t see, but he went past any way. He waved me through a couple of corners later.
Fuel at Healsville. We decided to head to
Kangaroo Ground via
After that little drama, I saw a farmer in a paddock who looked to be dead. When I saw him he was laying on his back, completely still. I pulled over to do a U-turn, then looked across to see him moving. Thank heavens! We all proceeded to Kangaroo Ground for the break-up. After saying our goodbyes, I then saw another copper up the road. Must take it easy going home, I thought. Arrived home approx 3 pm, gave the bike a wash and detail, and watched RPM. Thanks to everyone for coming. Also thanks to Ian and Ben for rear rider duties.

Late breaking Who’s News:
Where’s Ian Payne? Not presiding at the General Meeting? He’s off to the Countdown Spectacular at Rod Laver Arena. At the time of purchase, tickets were only available on this Thursday. Of course, other dates opened up as the first night filled. He sends his apologies, double booking a complete oversight.
