This ride was described in the MSR itinerary as “lots of twisty roads… almost unrelenting” ... how true this was. I was feeling a wee bit weary by the middle of this one… a wet, cold day and a foggy Mt Baw Baw didn’t make it any easier either.  I should have known that Misho would chose the curliest way possible for his ride and he sure did – Chum and Myers Creek Roads, Powelltown, Noojee, Mt Baw Baw… not enough?  How about Icy Creek Road, Hill End and the Old Sale Road as well? Yep, but just a little bit more… back home via Powelltown again.  Hmmm… twisties hey?  You boys just love them to bits…it was great to see you having so much fun… I just wanted to be so much a part of it too.

In fact, by mid-afternoon I was feeling so tired; added to this, I somehow missed out on having lunch at Noojee and  I was feeling so glum and irritable that I spat the dummy and told the ride-leader (Misho) that I’m never doing Mt Baw Baw again and WHY had he chosen to go there?!?!    Oh oh… I think I caught him by surprise judging by the startled look on his face.  A bit of a rest and some food at Neerim South helped to lift my mood and I felt a little remorseful at having berated the ride leader as a result of my non-nourished physical state and subsequent emotional imbalance…. sorry Misho x

After this, the Powelltown twisties on the way home were much more enjoyable.

Even now it still amazes me how many hard-core riders turned up on this miserable wet Sunday for the ride; and I still remember the smile on your faces – Cameron, Cliff, Ben, Mark, Bruce, Geoff - at each break; makes me realise that no matter how bad the roads and weather conditions, there is still scope to having a positive experience from the day’s ride.

Now, whenever I start to feel a little bit ‘down’ on a ride, I remember Misho’s words -“Feel the joy.” - whispering to me… and a sunny disposition slowly makes it way into my spirit.
