MSR  Itinerary                      March 2010

Sunday 7th      Euroa                                                                                                   Rob Langer leading

10 am Whittlesea

Out through Flowerdale and on to the Molesworth road to Alexandra for morning tea. Then more loops to get to Merton and the fabulous twisties on the Euroa road where we'll lunch. In the afternoon we take Harry's Creek Road to Highlands and Yea to finish at Kinglake West. Expect a lazy 400 fun-filled kilometres for the day.

Sunday 14th   Mt Baw Baw                                                                                         Dave Ward leading

10 am Yarra Glen

From Yarra Glen we'll head across to Healesville, Powelltown and Noojee for first break after 90 km. You'll need to get fuel here as the next stop, Neerim South, is just out of range for most bikes. After the break we'll head up Mt Baw Baw, then back down to Icy Creek turning left for Hill End to regroup after 113 km. Brilliant roads to this point.  After the Old Sale Road it’s on to the Crossover sweepers to Neerim South and around to Jindivick to finish at the Longwarry North servo after another 56 km. Roughly 285 hard km for the day, but worth every corner. Good tyres essential.  Ride will not suit inexperienced riders; not recommended for first time Club riders.

Sunday 21st    Lavers Hill via The Great Ocean Road                                               Cliff Peters leading

9.30 am West Gate Shell Servo

Note early start. The route will encompass the normal MSR back roads to reach Moriac after 100 km travelling through Little River, Lara and Batesford, bypassing Geelong. After morning tea we'll head for Deans Marsh, Beech Forest and Turtons Track (narrow, very windy, always wet road through rain forest) to Lavers Hill for lunch, a further 120 km. With the temperature hovering around 16 degrees, a cup of hot pumpkin soup will go down well. Petrol costs about $1.47 a litre or 20 cents above Melbourne prices - the tourist tax you pay for having fun. Homeward bound: Apollo Bay, Forest, Dean's Marsh, Moriac (regroup), then breakup at Lara after 400 km. Be there. Ride will not suit inexperienced riders; not recommended for first time Club riders.
